Today’s a special day for me. It’s February. It’s Sunday. It’s the biggest day in American motorsports — It’s DAYTONA 500 Sunday.

Much like last year, I got up a little early today to get my pre-race regimen started.

First up, COFFEE.

Then a shower and some Sirius XM NASCAR audio to get the juices flowing.

Now, it’s time to get the RACE DAY TURKEY CHILI started.

This is my recipe for one of my favorite chilis. Feel free to improvise, have fun and make something you and your crew will enjoy as the green flag drops.

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 packet of Cincinnati Style chili seasoning
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh jalapeños
  • 1 small can (4.25oz) of green chilis
  • 3 shots of Crown Royal Maple
  • 24oz. jar of tomato basil sauce
  • 1 lb. (large can) of small red beans
  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1 can of small white beans
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Monterey Jack cheese

Sautee the ground meat in a frying pan with salt and pepper and a little olive oil. When its almost fully cooked add the can of green chilis.

In the crock pot, add all other ingredients adding salt and pepper as well. When the ground meat and chilis are cooked, add it to the crock pot with all other ingredients.

Cook on low for 3-4 hours.

For an added kick, top your serving with a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce and a little monterey jack cheese.
